How to Use a Cast Iron Burger Press for Perfectly Shaped Patties Every Time

Here's how to use a cast iron burger press to make the perfect burger:


  1. Choose your ground meat. You can use beef, turkey, chicken, pork, or even a plant-based meat substitute.

  2. Preheat your cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. You want it to be hot before you start cooking.

  3. Take a portion of the ground meat and roll it into a ball, about the size of a golf ball.

  4. Place the ball of meat in the center of the burger press.

  5. Place a piece of parchment paper or wax paper over the meat ball.

  6. Press the burger press down firmly, using the handle, until the meat is flattened into a patty. The paper will help prevent the meat from sticking to the press.

  7. Remove the paper and gently lift the burger press away from the patty.

  8. Season the patty with salt, pepper, or any other spices you like.

  9. Place the patty onto the hot skillet or griddle.

  10. Cook the patty for 3-4 minutes on each side, until it's cooked through.

  11. Serve your burger on a bun with your favorite toppings.
