About the Recipe

This recipe for spicy Indian chicken wings marinated in a tamarind sauce results in tender, flavorful wings with a tangy kick. The wings are first marinated in a mixture of tamarind paste, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, salt, and oil, which infuses them with bold flavors and tenderizes the meat. After marinating for at least 2 hours or overnight, the wings are baked until they are crispy and golden brown. Meanwhile, the leftover marinade is simmered on the stovetop until it thickens into a rich sauce. Once the wings are done, they are brushed with the thickened sauce for an extra burst of flavor. This recipe is perfect for those who love bold, spicy flavors and want to add an Indian twist to their chicken wings.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of chicken wings

  • 1/2 cup tamarind pulp

  • 1/4 cup honey

  • 2 tbsp. soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp. ginger paste

  • 1 tbsp. garlic paste

  • 1 tbsp. red chili powder

  • 1 tsp. cumin powder

  • 1 tsp. coriander powder

  • Salt, to taste

  • Oil, for frying

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, mix together the tamarind pulp, honey, soy sauce, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt to create the marinade.

  2. Add the chicken wings to the marinade, ensuring they are coated evenly. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

  3. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Remove the chicken wings from the marinade and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Reserve the remaining marinade.

  4. Bake the chicken wings for 25-30 minutes, turning them over halfway through the cooking process.

  5. Meanwhile, heat a skillet over medium heat and add the reserved marinade. Cook for a few minutes until the sauce has thickened.

  6. Once the chicken wings are cooked through, remove them from the oven and brush them with the thickened marinade.

  7. Serve the chicken wings hot with your favorite sides and enjoy!
